Walks into the casino smelling the sweat and alcohol every where. The shades seem a little much, even though there are lots of people wearing them all over the place. Quickly scanning the place, I head toward the cash place and get some chips. I sit down at one of the many poker tables. I put out about $100,000 in chips for the one game. I do my best to lose but its still so hard to keep the humans thoughts to themselves. I quickly gather up my chips that I won and head toward the elevators. There is no one paying attention to me, of course. I get in as someone else does too. I am quickly suspicious. I get off at the third floor and head to the stair well.

Tylen Azel wasn't the man in the elevator - he was the man lingering on the stairway with a glass of something that looked like red wine and smelled like blood, humming a little tune stuck between a lullaby and a child's nursery rhyme. As the door opened, he looked at her for a moment, a thinly amused smirk settling on his face. He was silent, his expression carefree, the hand not holding the glass tapping fingers against the iron railing of the staircase. He didn't exactly have anything to say, yet - but his experience in the Night World allowed him to quickly sense the uptightness and suspicion in her mind.

I look at him and replace my sunglasses and quickly head up the stairs. I glance back at him. I know right away what he is but continue on my way. When I get to level 5 I finally stop, pull my long auburn hair up, set my backpack on the floor. I squat down and pull out my laptop. I start working my way into into the main system of the casino to look for an empty room. One quickly shows up on the floor and I pull out a blank card and a card coder. Quickly, I scan the information then I glance at my watch. "Five seconds less." I whisper to myself as I throw my stuff into my backpack. I undo my hair, grab my brush from my backpack and run it through a couple of times. "Lets go." I get up and head toward the room I picked, maybe I'll head back down for a nice midnight snack soon.

Tylen couldn't help but wonder what this girl was planning on doing. He'd noticed the quickly dawning realization in her, and could sense her mind's voice on the fifth floor. His smirk widened just slightly, kind of waiting to see what happened as he walked up the stairs in the same way she had gone, and walked to a cafe in a corner near the elevator - a new improvement for the Circus Circus Hotel. He sat in a chair with a club soda and a book, occasionally turning pages and glancing up to scan the hallway.

I quickly made myself at home inside the hotel. I looked down at the worn out blue jeans I had been wear the past couple days and decided I needed a new look. I took a look around the room and decided that I had better check myself in to the mainframe so I pulled out the computer and made myself an alias under which I rented the room for two nights, the longest I could stay in one place before the hunting ground became too familiar. Then I grabbed a few grand before realizing that I still had about a $400,000 in poker chips from before. I reached for them as I thought about what I was going to do next. Once I had them all in the nice container I got at one of the many gas stations on the way into town, I headed out. I glanced in the small cafe as I passed by and saw the man from the stairwell once again. I stared at him as I walked by and found that he had been waiting for me. I quickly went downstairs to try to get him off my tail.

Tylen finished reading his chapter before walked downstairs after her. He'd been in Vegas for a while, now - and before Vegas, Los Angeles; he hadn't, however, met any Night People that had particularly caught his attention the way this new girl had. He could tell that she was a new vampire, newly made, and that she was scared of something. He chuckled, opening the door to the hotel's lobby and scanning the area for his prey (in a completely non-food way.)

I do my best to blend in as I quickly try to turn in my chips for cash. I look up once I've got my cash and see the guy walking into the lobby. I pause long enough to get a name from him. Tylen, what an odd name. I quickly make my way to the bar, I may be trying to get away but I girls gutta eat sometime. I hand the woman a $20 and she hands me a nice warm glass of 'red wine'. I've gotten used to being able to tell them apart from the humans. I start to sip the drink with care, I don't want to be too messy. I pull on my charm and pretty soon I've got the attention of half the bar. I start to wonder which one will come and buy me a drink first.

Tylen heard the commotion of the bar, and laughed quite loudly. With his thumb in his book, he walked into the bar and sat at a table, watching the uproar with his same amused smirk, watching Arianna over the pages of his book. He still had his 'wine' glass, taking a sip occasionally, grinning.

I could sense him in the bar and looked around, finding him quickly. I got up taking my drink with me and sat down at the table with Tylen. I could feel the disappointment settle around the room. "Why are you following me, Tylen?" I quickly ask. Nice and to the point, just like a lot of things I did recently. My thoughts keep getting jumbled, there are too many things to think about and too little control for me. I sit there and just stare at him waiting for an answer.

Tylen turned the page of his book, staring into her eyes while he did so. "That's a really simply question. I follow you because I can." He glanced at the words on the page, but found he couldn't comprehend them with her sitting so near him. "What are you trying to run away from?" he asked. He enjoyed an exchange of questions; mostly because new vampires are so... interesting. Still partly human.

"I'm the one asking the questions, mister!" I almost yell. So many heads turn. I grab your book. I am so flustered. "Tell me what you want with me? There would be no reason for someone like you to be following me. Alex said..." I trail off as I feel a stab of emotion. I automatically reach up to wipe away a tear. "Just tell me what you want! If need be I'll leave. I'm used to it. Just let me fee-- eat first then I'll be on my way."

Tylen's eyes follow his book. "I don't want anything with you. It's just not normal for me to see a child like you wandering around alone. Especially in Vegas." he smirked, resting his chin in his palm and leaning forward, expression suddenly softening when he saw the tear running down her cheek, felt the sudden flash of emotion. "It's not about you leaving," he sighed, voice dropping. "It's about you being safe." He smiled a little more gently than he had before. "Does that make any sense?"

"Not really." I could feel his sympathy. Why would an older one want to help me? "Can we talk in private?" I start to get up before I get an answer and quickly turn towards the elevators. I press the up button. I can't believe it down so quickly. Why? What is this kid doing to me? He may be older then me but he still looks so young... why?

"Of course," he breathed, standing behind her as the elevator doors opened. "I apparently don't have much of a choice." He could feel the envious stairs of humans and Night People alike on his back, and that almost made him laugh - but he didn't. His hand pressed against her elbow lightly as he gestured her into the elevator, and as soon as she was in he let go. He stood a few feet apart, against a wall, watching her somewhat warily. "I'm not trying to do anything to you," he said flatly, having heard her thoughts.

"I hope that you understand my caution." I say as I push the button gracefully and quickly look at the ground. I could feel the people continue to stare after us as we start to go up. "I can never get used to the want of humans. I was never much to look at as a human and yet somehow things change so dramatically with a little bite." I flash my teeth as I remember the slight pain that was almost drowned out by the ecstasy. "Anyway, why do you want to help me? I was told that 'elders' hated younglings like myself." I glance up to see how he takes it.
