The made vampires are different than the born vampires in that they were once human, turned vampire by sharing blood with a vampire. Made vampires can't reproduce other than by making other vampires. Made vampires are almost never older than twenty - it is difficult for adult humans to last through the change; while most humans go unconscious during the change, few made vampire clans are conscious when they change - and this consciousness gives them power. Made vampires stop aging when they change. Like lamia, these vampires survive on blood - but unlike the lamia, the blood doesn't have to have been human. Also unlike the lamia, made vampires burn in the sunlight.
Vampires are able to see the auras and read the minds of humans as well as the other Night World inhabitants. The older and stronger vampires (called the Elders) are able to hide these, while the younger made-vampires are the most susceptible. Their senses, reflexes, minds, and bodies are far stronger than any humans. Made vampires are different than lamia in that one dominant personality trait from their human life is magnified into a power during the change.
