Poppy nodded, "That should work! But we need to tell my parents soon, so they don't start worrying about me disappearing." She bit her lip. "we could do that today.. unless you're busy."

Jason paused, considering what he had left to do that day. "Well..." he started. "I suppose, if you want to....but most people find me rather odd when they meet me, so that may not be such a great idea..." he trailed off. "But, if you want me, too, I can. I'll probably just need to run over to my apartment and put these somewhere," he said, gesturing at the books. "And maybe change," he added, glancing down at his worn jeans, and the sort of scuffed combat boots...and the wire and garnet necklace that hung from his neck. Mentally, he also considered the six piercings in his ears, which most adults who were more than, well, ten years older than him usually disapproved of.

"My parents had to deal with my brother." Poppy looked him over and smirked. "Compared to Josh, you're tame." She nodded.

Jason raised his eyebrows. ""Tame? That's not a word that people usually apply to me," he said, running a hand through his hair. "Most of the time I get called 'weird' or 'crazy,' actually. How bad was your brother?" he asked.

"He kind of went through the Goth phase. My parents didn't really approve of it." She rolled her eyes, and shook her head a little. "Like, the black hair and pale make-up and multiple facial peircings."

Jason winced. "That would explain why you said tame," he said. "I never liked that fad all that much," he added with a sigh. "So, after that, you don't think that much can bother your parents, I assume?"

Poppy shook her head, "I would be very surprised if we found some way to bother them. Besides the magic, I mean."

Jason snorted. "That's always the part that people really get annoyed by," he said sarcastically. "If I say anything about it to someone who isn't from the Night World, usually they just look at me like I'm crazy and take a few steps back," he told her. "So, really, it would be a lot easier if we didn't mention the magic to them, I think. The last thing I need is to be picked up by the police because someone thinks I'm insane and has me arrested," he said, rolling his eyes.

Poppy nodded quickly, "I can't help but think that that's a common occurence for your people... trying to stay hidden and such." She paused. "But, of course my parents don't have to know anything about it."

"That is very true - it does happen a lot, but beyond the fact that normal humans aren't supposed to know about us, we get into a lot of trouble with an authority that is far more dangerous than the police," he told her. "And really, I'm pushing it on many accounts as it is, and that's not just in the fact that you've figured out what the Night World is because of me with some help..." Jason added, shaking his head a little. "But with that count, we'll just take it as it comes..."
"And I would appreciate it if we didn't have to tell your parents about the magic part. If we were to, they'd probably think that I'm some crazy stalker, or something, and they're already going to be a little weirded out by the fact that you've brought someone who is pretty much a total stranger home to tutor you..." he added, a slight grin appearing on his face as he continued to shake his head.

"I'll say you graduated school last year. Or, something. You're my friend's older brother." she laughed. "They might ask a million questions, but... they won't like barricade you from the house or anything."

Jason chuckled. "All right. I suppose that will work. And besides, if they kick me out, I can always spell this place to keep dear old Dad at bay, at least," he said with a shrug.
(Sorry...the muse has just vanished right now for some reason. >_<)

(Yeah, that would seriously be great....)
"All right..." Jason said, shrugging. "So, I'll see you tomorrow then?" he asked as he dug into his pocket and pulled out the cash he had on him. He counted out the cost of the books, plus some for tax, and offered it to her.

"Yes, I'll see you tomorrow." Poppy nodded quickly, taking the money and opening the cash register, counting out change. "You get... seventy-six cents back." she passed him three quarters and a penny, smiling brightly. "Have a nice day~"
