Poppy's eyes lit up when he said exactly what she'd hoped he would - yes.]/i] She was mentally skipping around in circles and clapping her hands, but all that showed on the outside was a smile. "I don't see the point to living forever - that's just... too long." She nodded vehemently, "I understand. But is there anything that can stop your father for good?"

"No. Nothing that won't get me in trouble with the Night World authorities. I'd have to kill him, and the only way I'd be able to do that is in a duel. With magic. And then I'd just get myself executed for killing another sentient being, Triste or no, with magic. That's another rule you have to follow. There are a bunch of other ones that I'll tell you later, when I have the whole list with me and don't have to try to remember all of them...." Jason said, reaching up to run a hand through his hair, which totally ruined the planned messy look (which was, ironically enough unintentional) it had had a few seconds later.
"Anyway, if you want to get a hold of me after this, here's my address," he paused, pulling a card out of his pocket and offering it to her. The card read Jason Tsuraga, consultant and had his address, and the number for the phone at his apartment, since he didn't have a cell phone. "If you want, you can give me a call if you need some help. I don't always answer, but it's the easiest way to get a hold of me if you want something or need help other than trying to find someone from the Night World who knows me, and that really isn't all that easy, now that I think about it. But, you can give me a call later if you need anything or want to talk about something," he said.

Poppy nodded, "I will." She was still thinking about the laws; they seemed strict, almost like a religion, in the 'no meat on fridays' or 'eat dairy off of this plate, and meat off of this plate, but remember – no pork!' kind of way. The ridiculous kind of sentiment that revolved around ridiculous protection of something that truly didn't exist. She nodded – then something else struck her mind. "I have school tomorrow. It's Monday. Do you think you could find your list and meet me after?" That was something easier said in person than over the phone; it was the kind of question that implied things Poppy didn't quite want to imply that would not do with distance. Jason had to know what she meant from her face instead of just her voice. Her fingers closed around the card and she studied it, and smiled. "The Night World doesn't seem very organized, even if there is a Council." she said a little flatly.

Jason frowned slightly. "You're in school? Ah. Umm...tomorrow..." he paused, trying to remember what he had to do then. "I think I have a meeting with a client at two, and I was going to have dinner with a friend of mine, but I guess I could see if I could move that to another day..." he trailed off. He honestly hadn't thought that she was of an age that she was still in school. He'd never really been all that good at judging ages, but she'd seemed, for the most part, as mature as a few of his friends, most of whom were in their mid-twenties like he was.
"And you'd be surprised - the Night World is more organized than you'd think, only the people in it make an effort not to be noticed and seen. And besides, we're not supposed to tell humans about our world, though you'd be an exception, since you knew what the Night World was before I talked to you. But, there are a number of unexplained events that everyone knows about that had to do with someone from the Night World was responsible for..."

Poppy blinked. "I'm a sophomore." She nodded slowly. "If it's too much trouble, I can wait!" she spoke quickly, not wanting to intrude on his life too much (even though she was certainly do be doing a lot of intruding on his life). She listened intently, thinking about what he said, "I suppose secret organizations have to be organized; it kind of fits the criteria." she grinned. "They have to organized themselves to appear disorganized." She tilted her head just slightly, "Like, the fire that happened last year? It was at another bookstore, but Mr North said that they were trying to find one of his books."

Jason chuckled. "Actually, I don't think my friend'll mind if I put off going out to dinner with him and his wife," he said. "I think he told me that Tuesday will work better for them anyway, at that." He paused again, as he seemed to be doing quite often.
"Quite possibly. Some of the people of the Night World aren't at all considerate when they decide they want something. For some absurd reason, they seem to think that they can take anything they want and destroy things just because they're from the Night World and they can. You're right though - they do organize themselves to seem disorganized, and it's all entirely intentional. It prevents any enemies, Tristes included, that might be after any one person in particular from finding that person as easily. That's why I live here, for example - there are enough Night Worlders around that I can hide from my father in plain sight sometimes," he continued, shifting his weight a little as he looked down at her with his vivid blue eyes.

She nodded enthusiastically when he said his friend wouldn't mind. "Okay! Wait – There are people from the Night World here?" Poppy's eyes widened, just slightly. She knew that it was very probably, but she just hadn't thought about it. Then she smiled, "It's good that you can be safe, though. Really good."

Jason nodded, chuckling easily. "Yes, there are Night Worlders here, my dear. If there weren't, I wouldn't be here, because I am one of them, after all. There are witches - which is what I am, but I prefer the term 'wizard' for myself - lycan, werewolves, lamia, vampires, and, of course, Tristes, to name them. There are some places where they are more concentrated, safe-towns, they're called. Some of them are practically ruled by one kind, like the lycans, for example, who run amok up over in Madison. It all depends, really. I wouldn't be surprised if you've met a couple of them and haven't known it," he told her. "So, what time did you want me to meet you, and where?" he asked. Now he was fiddling with one of the three rings he wore, and tugging at the leather bracelet around his wrist. Why he was doing that, he didn't know. But then again, he didn't really notice that he was doing that at all. Jason had a lot of weird habits. And he didn't even notice most of them, either.

Poppy quickly absorbed this information, nodding slowly, deliberately. Her index finger touched the pearl around her neck, thoughtfully, and she said, "Do you think you could walk home with me from school?" While Reno wasn't exactly the largest of places, it was still a city, even though she lived three minutes away from her high school. She turned her head to swish the bangs away from her face, hoping that she wasn't asking too much.

(She's a high school sophomore at nineteen? And I'm now curious as to how her having cancer is going to play into this, and how we're going to work out this six year gap in their ages, too....)
Jason tilted his head slightly, considering how long it would take for him to get done with the client he was meeting. "Probably. What time do you get out of school?" he asked. He wasn't about to say anything, but he was just a tad put out by the fact that she was still in school, and it didn't seem that this school she was in was a college, so that could only mean that she was in high school. For some reason, she's seemed to be more on the same level as he was, though he'd never actually been in a college classroom - he'd taken a few distance learner courses, but he hadn't had time to be a full time student when he was trying to stay afloat and out of his father's sight. But, he had had enough credits to get one of those two year degrees some colleges (like the one he'd been enrolled in the distance learning program of) would offer, for all he'd almost failed the history course he'd had to take to get it. It didn't really make a difference, though, since all he did was some independent consulting work and the charms and other things he could do with magic that would bring in some money for him.

[ College sophomore. Or, or i could make her younger. Like, sixteen. Seventeen. She had a late start, or I can just go edit my post. That would make a gigantic age difference though. But it's not like they're having kids or anything. It's just technically illegal, in both worlds. But that's how soul mates work - you have no control over it. :\ Ha! She just doesn't have a car. I totally wasn't thinking high school when I put high school. :\ She doesn't know about the cancer yet, she gets sick during one of their lessons and goes to a doctor, who does all these blood tests and then does a MRI and sees that she has cancer. -nodnod- And she freaks out. ]
"My last class is around two-thirty on Wednesdays." She smiled; Her school was the gifted kind of school that let her schedule what and when her classes would be. She smiled, looking at Jason now, and trying to pinpoint how old he was. It was very difficult; his Night World beauty was throwing her off.

(Yeah, and if she was a high school sophomore, she would be ten years younger than Jason, which would bother him a great deal, I think, when he realizes that he's in love with her. So college sophomore would really be better. At least then it's only six years, not like ten. It shall be very interesting, though, when she tells Jason about the cancer after that incident, I think...)
"So, you'll be done around three-thirty or four, then?" Jason asked. "And where do you go to school?" Mentally, he was amending what he had been thinking a moment before. While he really was not good at guessing peoples ages, but she looked like she was in her late teens at the latest, but he could be very wrong, considering how bad he was at that.

[ -nodnod- It will be interesting. ^^ I like Poppy, though, she's like Aly, only, not hyper-active destructive. ^^ ] Poppy nodded slowly, "I usually get home around four, and I walk home, so that's about right." She smiled, "I'll be in front of the Humanities Department at the University of Nevada." She paused for a while, thinking, then asked, "How old are you?"

(And all of what we've got planned is awesome, anyways, too. Hehe....)
"All right, I know where that is, so I'll meet you there, then," Jason said. A slight smile had somehow managed to slip onto his face. He paused at her question. It was very amusing. "I'm twenty-five," he replied a little bit ruefully.

[ Oh, yes. -evil laughter- ]
Poppy nodded, "Fantastic~" And... twenty-five? Okay. He was old enough to be her tutor for something, she could tell her parents he was helping her. She nodded, "I'm nineteen."
